Beacon Climate Innovations is working with the Marblehead Municipal Light Department as part of a newly awarded grid resilience project funded through the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center’s Grants for Enhancing Grid Resilience and Reliability Program. Marblehead was awarded $1.33 million to replace vulnerable wooden utility poles with stronger composite materials and to underground a critical 1,800-foot section of distribution line. This investment will strengthen local electricity infrastructure, reduce outage risk during severe weather, and improve long-term reliability for Marblehead residents and businesses. Beacon Climate is supporting coordination and planning efforts to help ensure the project advances efficiently and delivers meaningful resilience and clean energy benefits to the community. This work reflects Beacon Climate’s broader commitment to partnering with municipal utilities and communities across Massachusetts to modernize the grid, protect residents from outages, and support a more resilient and affordable clean energy future.
| | | | Beacon Climate Innovations is partnering with PowerOptions to support municipalities, public entities, and community organizations as they navigate clean energy planning, procurement, and grid resilience efforts across Massachusetts. Through this collaboration, Beacon Climate is helping connect local partners to technical expertise, planning tools, and implementation pathways that align energy affordability, reliability, and decarbonization goals. By combining PowerOptions’ member-driven energy procurement and advisory services with Beacon Climate’s data-driven planning and coordination expertise, the partnership supports more informed decision-making and accelerates the deployment of clean energy and resilience projects. Together, Beacon Climate Innovations and PowerOptions are working to strengthen local capacity and help communities move from planning to action in building a more resilient and equitable energy future.
| | | | In a recent blog post, “The US Sucks at Autocracy… So Why Are We Trying to Compete?”, Moneer Azzam, Principal of Beacon Climate Innovations, offers a timely and thought-provoking reflection on the intersection of democracy, energy systems, and artificial intelligence. Drawing on global energy and policy dynamics, Moneer argues that America’s greatest strength lies not in emulating autocratic models, but in doubling down on democratic decision-making, community agency, and clean, resilient energy systems.
The piece underscores the critical role of stable, affordable, and distributed energy resources in shaping the future of AI and innovation, while calling for renewed local action, collaboration, and optimization over maximization. It is a compelling read for anyone thinking about energy, democracy, and the path forward in 2026 and beyond. | | | | | | Welcoming our new interns! | |
